Jimena Navarrete Rosete, the 22 year old Mexican lady has been selected as the Miss Universe of 2010. She was crowned by Stefania Fernandez in the Miss Universe contest on 23 August 2010 in Las Vegas. Marking the three consecutive success of the Latin American Countries in the Miss Universe Competition, Jimena has opined “when you feel good inside you look good.” The pageant, hosted by rock musician Bret Michaels and Natalie Morales (TV news personality) at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino was so colourful with 83 contestants.

Navarrete was born on February 22, 1988 in Guadalajara, Mexico. She started modeling at the age of 15 and she has studied nutrition course with a hope to work in hospital or other clinical setting to make people aware of nutrition and health. She has won the title of Nuestra Belleza México 2009, defeating thirty three other contestants before being selected as the delegate to this Miss Universe competition. She is the second delegate from Mexico to uphold the title after Lupita Jones in 1991.

After winning the Miss Universe 2010 title she said that: “I want the whole world to know about my country and my people.” By achieving this title, Navarrete won a package of prizes including an undisclosed salary, a luxury New York apartment with living expenses, a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy with housing after her reign, plus jewelry, clothes and shoes fit for a beauty champion. She expressed her gratitude to her parents for their sacrifice in bringing her up to this level. Her view points are just different and she wants to pursue her degree in Nutritional Science and to spend her year as Miss Universe drawing attention of the universe to the welfare of people with HIV/AIDS and breast cancer. In the mean time she also wants to be the icon to introduce her country, its people and glorious culture to the world.
